About us

Software for pet care pros.
Built by dog people.

We're a husband-and-wife team who got tired of watching local groomers, boarders, and daycares struggle with software that was too complicated, and too expensive.

It started with the two of us.

David, that's me, is a software engineer. Not a groomer, not from the pet industry. We got into this because our local groomer was still running her business on pen and paper, not because she didn't want better tools, but because everything on the market was too expensive and too complicated for a one-van business.

She became one of our first customers (hi, Jo!), and Grooro is still built the same way for every pet care business we work with, groomers, boarders, and daycares alike: something simple, and priced for a business their size, not a chain.

Software people don't usually understand pet care, and pet care pros don't usually have time to learn software. We got lucky — we brought the code, and the groomers, boarders, and daycare owners we met along the way brought everything else, walking us through what actually mattered on a day full of back-to-back bookings. Grooro got built from that back-and-forth, not a boardroom guess.

We've been self-funded since day one

What started as a two-person, husband-and-wife team is still just that, a small team building Grooro our own way. Staying self-funded means we answer to the groomers using Grooro, not to investors. That hasn't changed, and it isn't going to.

We're dog people, through and through

Our two Labradors, Bonny and Lilly, are usually asleep under the desk while we work, and our daughter is growing up right alongside them. We didn't get into this because it looked like a good market. We got into it because we love dogs, and we love the people who look after them for a living.

1 treat = 1 groomer who joins Grooro

You're not just a number to us

We keep a jar on our desk. Every time a groomer joins Grooro, a treat goes in, and Bonny and Lilly are always happy to supervise. It's a small ritual, but it means every business that trusts us is something we actually see, not a row in a spreadsheet. We always listen and help.
